On June 27, 2023, Judge Richard G. Stearns of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts appointed Lowey Dannenberg, P.C. as interim lead counsel for end-payor plaintiffs in Premera Blue Cross v. Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited et al., No. 1:23-cv-11254 (D. Mass.).

This case is a class action concerning an anticompetitive conspiracy by Takeda and other pharmaceutical manufacturers to delay entry of generic versions of Takeda’s brand drug Amitiza. By impeding the normal function of this drug market, Takeda and its co-conspirators withheld availability of cheaper generic Amitiza, reaping enormous profits at direct expense to consumers and insurers.

The Lowey team is led by Peter D. St. Phillip, Uriel Rabinovitz, Renee Nolan, and Charles Kopel.
