Travelers Data Breach Investigation

Lowey Dannenberg is investigating claims for violations of the common law and the federal Drivers Privacy Protection Act by the Travelers Indemnity Company (“Travelers”) as a result of a 2021 data breach involving highly sensitive personal information, including Driver’s License Numbers.

 

What Happened

On November 12, 2021, Travelers discovered suspicious activity relating to their agency portal, which is used by their insurance agents to obtain quotes for customers and prospective customers. Travelers launched an investigation and determined that between April 2021 and November 17, 2021, an unauthorized party used the credentials of insurance of agents to access the portal to obtain information sourced from a third party. Travelers began notifying affected persons by mail on December 10, 2021.

 

What Information Was Involved?

The personal information may have included:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Date of births
  • Driver’s license numbers
