Legal Action Against University California San Francisco (UCSF) for Unauthorized Sharing of Health Data with Meta Platforms

UCSF operates over 20 locations in Northern California and elsewhere, including clinics, hospitals, and other facilities. The action is Doe v. Regents of the University of California, 3:23-cv-00598 (N.D. Cal.) and alleges that individuals who used UCSF’s website and/or patient portal had their private health data shared with and used by Meta Platforms, Inc.—one of the largest advertisers in the world—without their knowledge or permission.
