Thomas Griffith is an associate that develops and prosecutes complex antitrust and commercial litigation cases for the firm’s Healthcare Recovery Practice Group and the Commodities and Derivatives Practice Group.
Notable Cases:
Healthcare: Mr. Griffith is part of a team representing multiple large heath insurers pursuing recovery in multidistrict litigation against more than fifty generic pharmaceutical manufacturers in what has been deemed the “largest cartel in the history of the United States.” The Lowey team is coordinating with 48 state Attorneys Generals and multiples classes in In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Antitrust Pricing Litigation to recover overcharges stemming from allegations that generic manufacturers have engaged in a conspiracy to fix, increase, or maintain the price of over 200 generic drugs, with certain drugs experiencing a price increase of over 8,000%.
Commodities: Mr. Griffith was part of a team at Lowey representing the Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in In re GSE Bonds Antitrust Litigation, helping the class earn negotiated recoveries totaling $386.5 million along with commitments by the defendants to implement significant remedial measures intended to detect and prevent future anticompetitive conduct in the GSE Bonds market.
Mr. Griffith is also involved in the firm’s prosecution of commodities manipulation cases, working to protect market integrity for institutional investors, unions, and the public from manipulation, fraud, and abusive practices while earning recoveries of damages suffered by clients. Mr. Griffith has contributed to the firm’s pioneering of anti-spoofing cases, such as Boutchard v. Ghandi et al and In re Merrill, BofA, and Morgan Stanley Spoofing Litigation, through which Lowey ensures that technological developments do not undo the public’s ability to trade in a fair and transparent market.

Prior to joining Lowey Dannenberg, Mr. Griffith clerked for the Honorable Radames Velazquez in the Superior Court of New Jersey. He graduated with honors cum laude from Fordham University School of Law in 2018 as a Ruth Whitehead Whaley Scholar. During school, Mr. Griffith served as a Research Assistant for a professor writing on antitrust and patent law issues, interned in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York, worked for a commercial litigation boutique on international trade secret issues, and was the editor and supervisor of student notes for the Fordham Urban Law Journal.
As an active member of the ABA Section of Antitrust, Mr. Griffith has published an article on two-sided business platforms in Distribution and served as a chapter editor for Antitrust and Associations Handbook and has served as a Young Lawyer Representative on the Section’s Distribution and Franchising Committee.
Mr. Griffith’s commitment to community service has included work in Fordham’s public interest program, the Stein Scholars, and volunteer work for both the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
