Suffolk University Data Breach Investigation

Lowey Dannenberg is investigating claims for violations of the common law and state consumer protection statutes by Suffolk University, as a result of a data breach involving highly sensitive driver’s license numbers.

 

What Happened and What Information Was Involved:

Suffolk University is a private research university located in Boston, Massachusetts.

On November 30, 2022, Suffolk University announced that it discovered unauthorized access to their network which occurred on or about July 9, 2022. As part of their investigation, on November 14, 2022, Suffolk University, concluded that certain documents and records were accessed and/or obtained in connection with this incident.

According to information provided to the Office of the Maine Attorney General, the personal information acquired included:

  • Names or other personal identifiers in combination with:
    • Driver’s License Numbers or Non-Driver Identification Card Numbers
