What Happened and What Information Was Involved:
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois based in Des Plaines, is one of the largest statewide social service providers in Illinois.
LSSI recently announced that back on January 27, 2022, LSSI discovered their network had been affected by a ransomware attack. As part of LSSI’s investigation, on December 28, 2022, LSSI determined the extent that the unauthorized party had accessed certain files containing personal and health information that LSSI maintained on the affected systems.
The types of information potentially involved may include:
- Names,
- Dates of birth,
- Social Security numbers,
- Financial account information,
- Driver license numbers,
- Biometric information,
- Medical diagnosis and treatment information, and
- Health insurance information.
