What Happened and What Information Was Involved

Headquartered in El Segundo, California, Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND) is a producer of plant-based meat substitutes that offers options in the beef, pork and poultry categories, and is sold in the meat section at some of the Nation’s highly recognized food and grocery stores. The Company describes itself as “one of the fastest growing food companies in the United States, offering a portfolio of revolutionary plant-based meats.” Recently filed class action lawsuits by consumers and a business competitor allege that Beyond Meat violates state and federal law by falsely advertising and marketing its products, specifically with regard to the protein concentration on its product labels, and that those products consist of only natural ingredients without synthetic components.

When the lawsuits were filed and investors learned of Beyond Meat’s potentially deceptive marketing campaign, the price of Beyond Meat securities dropped precipitously, injuring investors and wiping millions of dollars of investor wealth.
